Director of Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation

Joe Vitali serves as the Maintenance, Operations, & Transportation (MOT) Director for The Lamphere Schools, where he oversees the capital planning, coordination, and administration of district-wide facilities, custodial services, safety, student transportation, and day to day operations. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability, Joe ensures that every student and staff member learns and works in a clean, secure, and well-maintained environment.

Throughout his career, Joe has been dedicated to building effective teams, streamlining operations, and implementing preventive maintenance programs that protect district assets and taxpayer investments. His leadership combines technical expertise with a collaborative, service-oriented approach that supports the district’s educational mission every day.

Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation Supervisor

Samantha Collins serves as the MOT Supervisor, the #2 in the Department. In her role, Sam ensures that all facilities are clean, safe, well maintained, and operate efficiently so that students and staff have a good environment to learn and teach in everyday. Sam also has direct oversight of the regulation, administration, and day to day operations of the Transportation Department, ensuring our students have a safe and efficient way to get to and from school, as well as providing transportation for field trips and athletic events. 

Sam began her career with The Lamphere Schools over 10 years ago as a bus driver and takes great pride in all of the hard work and dedication required to be promoted to the position she holds today. Sam also is proud of the work our team does to keep things running smoothly, and as a proud parent of two Lamphere graduates, the district means a lot to her both personally and professionally.

Afternoon Custodial Supervisor

Kim Fulton serves as the Afternoon Custodial Supervisor, overseeing 15-20 custodial staff and ensuring that all district facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained for students, staff, and the community. With a strong commitment to teamwork, efficiency, and attention to detail, Kim coordinates daily cleaning operations, supports staff development, manages all after-school activities, and helps maintain high standards of service and safety across all school sites. Kim is known for a hands-on leadership style and dedication to creating positive learning environments and she takes pride in helping the district provide schools that reflect care, pride, and professionalism.

Transportation Supervisor

Sandy Bush serves as the Transportation Supervisor. Sandy is an experienced school bus driver with a strong background in managing student transportation operations. With over 25 years in the field, she oversees daily bus schedules, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and coordinates with drivers, schools, teachers, and parents to provide reliable and efficient transportation services. Known for her commitment to student safety, Sandy plays a vital role in maintaining smooth and secure transit for school communities.

Maintenance Supervisor

Jay Gattes serves as Maintenance Supervisor. Jay oversees daily maintenance operations, ensures facilities are safe and well-maintained, and leads a team committed to providing a clean, efficient, and welcoming environment for students and staff. Jay takes pride in his strong work ethic, hands-on leadership, and focus on creating a positive and productive atmosphere across all district buildings. Jay has an extensive background in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services with over 30 years experience in the industry.  Jay and his team manage over 700,000 square feet of facilities and 1,500 plus work orders annually.

Data and Planning Specialist and Grounds Supervisor

Sonny Douglas serves as the Data and Planning Specialist and Grounds Supervisor, where he plays a key role in supporting district operations through data-driven planning and the oversight of grounds maintenance. In this dual role, Sonny manages the collection and analysis of operational data to guide decision-making, while also ensuring that all district grounds are safe, attractive, and well-maintained for students, staff, and the community. Combining technical expertise with practical, hands-on leadership, Sonny works closely with multiple departments to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and long-term planning. With a strong focus on organization, efficiency, and continuous improvement, Sonny takes pride in supporting a positive learning environment and the overall success of the district.
